Topic Overview:

We will walk through the appropriate releases, information gathering, histories that are needed to properly diagnose and treat the injured employee, while at the same time providing the necessary information for the employer to evaluate the injury from a non occupational or workers’ compensation basis. We will discuss appropriate medical care to include diagnostic testing or referrals and we will discuss who (occupational health provider or employer) makes decisions regarding whether work is available within specific restrictions provided by the occupational health provider, and whether the injury in question (causation) is non occupational or work related.



Guidelines to the occupational provider that allows them to advocate for the injured employee’s medical care and at the same time, meet the obligations to the employer.


The Webinar will focus on the development of medical releases (HIPAA), information gathering that is needed to evaluate and treat injuries, appropriate, not excessive care as well as opinions on the ability to work with or without restrictions, causation.


Speaker Bio:

Robert Maciorowski is an accomplished attorney with expertise in various areas of practice, including Workers' Compensation, Third Party Liability, Products Liability, Americans with Disabilities Act, FMLA, Retaliatory Discharge, General Litigation, and Labor/Related Litigation. He completed his Doctor of Law degree from De Paul University, College of Law in 1974, where he also served as a Case and Comment Editor. He also holds a B.A. degree from Illinois Benedictine College.


Robert has a Martindale Hubbell Rating of "AV Preeminent - Highest Rating Available." He is a Fellow of The College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers and a founding member of the National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network. He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Employment Law Council and Workers’ Compensation Committee.


Robert has received numerous accolades and recognition for his contributions to the legal field. He has been selected for The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyer, Leading Lawyers, and Most Honored Professional. He was also named as one of the top-rated lawyers by the National Law Journal.

Robert has presented and spoken at various national conferences on Workers’ Compensation, ADA, and related matters. He has also authored chapters on Workers’ Compensation in several publications, including the First Edition Chicagoland Employment Law Manual, U.S. Chamber of Commerce – Federal Employment Laws and Regulations, and A Field Guild to Workers’ Compensation 2010. Robert has served as a contributing author for the publisher Wiley Law.
