Topic Overview:
This presentation will provide insight into best practices for formulating and maintaining an effective transitional duty program that will optimize return to full duty. The presentation will identify evidence-based research to support early return to work and accommodation of transitional duty.
Objectives:
1. Review the evidence and best practices for early return to duty after work injury.
2. Identify factors influencing return to work.
3. Discuss advantages for keeping injured employees at work.
4. Examine key components of a comprehensive transitional duty program.
Speaker Bios:
Mary Giovannetti, APRN, DNP, BC-FNP is the Employee Health Director/NP at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. She has worked in Employee Health for 17 years. She also teaches nursing leadership, genetics, and quality at Limestone University. Prior to this she worked in Family Practices as a Nurse Practitioner. She received her Master’s in Nursing from Marshall University in 1998 and Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2017 from University of SC. She is currently serving as the AOHP Region 5 Director. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 college age kids, taking care of 3 dogs, and serving in church.
