Overview: This presentation will provide information and a conceptual framework through Trauma Informed Care that will shed light on the behavioral and psychological impacts of compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout.
Objectives:
1. To provide definitions and insight into the following phenomenon: compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout.
2. To discuss the impacts these factors have on worker health.
3. To provide a conceptual framework to support the development of services and education that addresses the impact of these 3 phenomenon in the workplace.
Speaker Bio:
Icahn Saelao is a Professional Counselor and mental health educator that has been working in Portland, Oregon for the last 11 years. He has worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field that includes community behavioral health, inpatient and outpatient clients, forensics, and private practice. He has supported diverse populations as a clinician and has provided education to his fellow peers as well as the general public on topics that include Mental Health First Aid, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Informed Care.
