AOHP has established an electronic Discussion Email List Service for its members. This benefit allows all AOHP members to join the AOHP listserv free. The purpose of the AOHP listserv is to facilitate discussions among AOHP members. By joining, you will be able to send and receive e-mails to and from other AOHP members working in the hospital/medical center setting.
Joining the AOHP listserv
This listserv is for AOHP members only. To join the list, please send your name and e-mail address to AOHP Headquarters at info@aohp.org. You will receive an e-mail confirming your subscription, along with instructions on how to post messages and how to unsubscribe.
Messages posted to the list should be practice-related in content only. The list should not be used for association business or personal matters. When you send or reply to the AOHP listserv, you MUST put your name, your phone, email address, organization name, city and state on the message.
You have option to decide how you want to receive the emails from the Discussion Group.
Subscription Type
Regular-With a "regular" subscription, you receive individual postings immediately, when they are processed by LISTSERV.
Digest-With a "digest" subscription, you receive larger messages (called "digests") at regular intervals, usually once per day or once per week. These "digests" are collections of individual list postings. Some lists are so active that they produce several digests per day. Digests provide a good compromise between reading everything as it is posted and feeling like the list is clogging your mailbox with a multitude of individual postings.
Index-With an "index" subscription, you receive short "index" messages at regular intervals, usually once per day or once per week. These "indexes" show you what is being discussed on the list, without including the text of the individual postings. For each posting, the date, the author's name and address, the subject of the message, and the number of lines is listed. You can then download messages of interest from the server (the index contains, complete instructions on how to do that).
An index subscription is ideal if you have a slow connection and only want to read a few hand-picked messages. The indexes are very short and you do not have to worry about long download times. The drawback, of course, is that you need to reconnect to order messages of interest from the server.
Please refrain from sending inappropriate messages to the email lists. This includes messages that:
-are in conflict with AOHP’s policy
-contain insulting and/or unprofessional language, and
-are blatantly promoting a product/service
Failure to do so may result in your removal from the email list.
