Regional Director

Position: Regional Director
Responsible To: Executive President

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regional Director provides leadership through effective communication to the designated regional chapters and chapter presidents by supporting the development, planning, coordination and evaluation of regional activities; promotes the Association's philosophy, objectives and goals; and serves on the executive board of directors.

Qualifications
Active membership in the Association for at least four years unless waived by the executive president; employed in the field of occupational health in healthcare in the respective region; an articulate, knowledgeable and professional representative of the Association and an employee health role model.

Term of Office
Two years; maximum two consecutive full terms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Acts as a liaison to the region's chapter officers.
  2. Maintains active communication with the regional chapters, providing information to the executive board of directors regarding chapter activities.
    1. Prepares twice-yearly report to the executive board of directors.
    2. Collaborates with the executive vice president during new chapter formation within the region, and coordinates the respective site visits.
    3. Makes site visits to established chapters as indicated (incurred expenses are the responsibility of the chapter unless an emergency visit is necessary and the chapter is unable financially to cover them). The executive president makes the decision to send the regional director to the chapter at the association's expense.
    4. Communicates with chapter presidents at least four times per year and upon request. At least two of these communications need to be in the form of written documentation to be submitted at each executive board of directors meeting as part of the twice-yearly report.
    5. Fosters close communication among the members by being available to the constituency.
  3. Serves on the executive board of directors representing the members of his/her respective region.
  4. Utilizes a collaborative style of leadership in an effort to ensure the cooperation of the membership in Association activities.
    1. Supports and guides chapter presidents through problem solving processes.
    2. Provides direction to committees and task forces at the regional level.
  5. Acts as a liaison to related professional organizations at the regional level.
  6. Orients and acts as a mentor to the incoming regional director.
  7. Serves as a member of the Planning Committee for Continuing Education and completes the Faculty Directed Program Review Form as needed.
