President's Letter
Happy New Year! Wishing you a FANTASTIC 2008!
As your new Executive President it is my privilege and honor, on behalf
of the AOHP Board of Directors, to wish you a wonderful New Year. We are
currently working on many initiatives, including:
Website Coordinator
This position has been filled by
Dee Tyler.
Thank-you to Dee for accepting this new position. Dee has a long history
of working with AOHP in the technology arena. She also has a broad range
of experience with technology in her work life. The goal of this
position is to keep the information and time-related items on the
website up-to-date. Dee can be contacted via Headquarters at
info@aohp.org.
AOHP’s New Website
Our new website will be ready soon. We will be notifying you via e-mail
when it “goes live.”
American Industrial Hygiene Association – New Partnership
AOHP has been approached by the American Industrial Hygiene Association
to partner in addressing environmental and biological monitoring of
worker exposures to such things as chemotherapy, radiology/oncology and
monitoring of plant engineering personnel. The board has reviewed this
request and on your behalf, feels that this is a partnership that we
would like to pursue. We are looking for volunteers that have
expertise in this area to provide support to this partnership.
Please contact me at
domeras@sutterhealth.org or contact the National office if
you are interested. We appreciate your support with this very important
endeavor!
OSHA
Alliance
AOHP plans to renew its
Alliance with OSHA in February.
Member Survey
A Member Survey is under development. You can expect to receive it over
the next few months. We do encourage you to complete it as your
responses are very valuable to the Board and the Association as a whole.
We will be looking at what your needs are as members of the Association.
New with this survey is the use of Survey Monkey to allow you to
complete the survey online.
2009 Conference
The 2009 conference will be held September 16-19 in
Portland,
Oregon. Chairperson is Denise Knoblauch.
Continuing Nursing Education Units
AOHP’s application for Continuing Nursing Education Unit providership
has been submitted to the State of
Washington and we look forward to hearing from them early this year.
This will allow AOHP to offer American Nurses Credentialing Center
units for all of its educational events.
Special Rates for AOHP Events
The board recently approved a 10% registration discount when 5 or more
employees from one organization attend an AOHP conference or workshop.
Do keep this in mind for this year’s Annual National Conference in
Denver
and any of the Getting Started on the Road programs.
AOHP Corporate Membership
At our December meeting, the Board approved a policy for Corporate
Membership to AOHP. It will be available to organizations desiring to
support the Association that are not otherwise eligible for another
membership classification. It will be renewable annually. For more
details, please see the AOHP website at
www.aohp.org
or contact Headquarters.
In conclusion, we wish you all a
very happy and healthy start to this fresh New Year!
Sandra Domeracki Prickitt,
RN, FNP, COHN-S
